    Who's up to a challenge

1981 GS750E Clutch cover compatible with 1982 GS1100E Clutch cover..

I hoping one of my fellow GS'rs knows if there is any difference between the two covers. I know that the do not have the same part number, something is different, but I am hoping there are compatible. From the outside they look identical. The GS1100E gasket lines up perfectly on the 750E cover.

    Help!

    Inside of the 750E

    Outside 750E

Hope this doesn't sound too obvious, but I'd be pulling the 1100 cover and studying the underside of that.....Take some measurements from a straight edge placed across the gasket surface to any of those ribs, sight glass and filler tube and compare them to the intended use cover......see if there might be a conflict......Heck at this point you've got the 1100 cover off......try 'er with no gasket and bar the engine over......it'll only be better WITH the gasket.

    That's where I'd be.

The 1100 cover has a slight leaks. A new gasket did not stop the slight leak. I was able to get the 750 cover for free. I would like to get the 750 polished then do a switch. At least that is my plan.
If I cant get an answer, then I will have to do as you suggested. I was hoping to get a answer, and avoid pulling the 1100E off and checking them.

      Thanks Sparkks

I would suspect it'd work. Very similar motors. Try it! ;-)

            Thanks Matt,

Thats what I think. If I know that it would fit for sure I could get it refinished the do the swap.:-D

If I remember correctly there is an oil bleed hole in the clutch cover.
Sort of like a jet in a carb. Check to see that both are the same.
But then again, I could be thinking of another bike, like a 850 or 1000

The part numbers could differ if the 1100 has black crankcase covers.

check the cross reference of the 750 and 1100 cover gaskets. if the gasket is the same I'd make the assumption that the covers will interchange (in this case)

I did check the part numbers at http://www.alpha-sports.com/ and they both use the same gasket, part number "11483-49210".
It looks like I will have to take the 1100 cover off and inspect them side by side. I don't want any guess work involved.

                    Thanks For your help.
