Does anyone know if the tach from a '79 GS1000 is the same as the tach on my '79 GS550? It sure looks the same but looks ain't everything.

The donor tach only says 1979 GS1000. The bike its going into (mine) is a 1979 GS550L. The whole speedo/tach/warning light panel look the same, I need to know if the tach works the same- like having the same gear ratio etc.Comment

It will work. Motor revolutions are still the same. Mine's got the fuel gauge built into the bottom of the tach.Comment
