Just how did you get a hold of an '84 400?
It is possible you are not in the United States, where other markets had bikes available that we don't.
In the US, 400s were only available in '77 and '78, which had B and C suffixes to the model names.
T and X were the suffixes for '80 and '81.
If, indeed, you do have an '84, the suffix should be E.

The X just denotes bikes sold in countries other than the states. We got GS and the rest of the world got GSX. Same bikes with a different designation. You can get model info here. http://www.suzukicycles.org/All-Suzu...ki_models.html Don't trust the part numbers, they may show a different number and actaully be the same part. I wouldn't be surprised if the pistons and valves weren't the same as an '83 750 or '85 700. I have some extra valves for a 700 if you want to see if they're the same. Do you know what size valves they ran?
