    Ticking from clutch

When cold I take off & then when I release the throttle & coast I get a ticking noise which stops as soon as I pull the clutch in....

It seems to dissapear when the engine is warm. It has been there since I got back from Yosemite/Reno trip & didn't go with an oil change. Has not get any worse though over the last 1,000 miles.

Any thoughts? I have EBC springs in there, I measured the plates & the fibre disks are on 50%. It's a stock clutch I believe. I haven't had the cover off since the noise started, will prob do so at the next oil change.

There is a small roller bearing on the pressure plate. I had one go bad once and it had a whirring-ticking sound.
If not try tightening the clutch nut, check the bearing behind the clutch hub.
If it stops when you apply clutch I'd say you have clutch wobble from a loose clutch hub nut, bad rivets on the backing plate-starter gear or the springs are loose on the back of the clutch hub. It could be as simple as your clutch spring bolts loosening up.

      Thanks Bill.

That's what I was hoping, just having to tweak those bolts.... how tight should they go? I seem to remember being a bit worried about that when i fitted the new springs.

Tighten them till snug. Manuals give a tourque but that is worthless if you have aftermarket springs. :-D
