GS1100E rear grab bars... Only 1?

Hey! Just a quick question. Under the rear plastic there's a grab bar on the left side, but not on the right. I've looked at the schematics and they only show one on the left (#13 below). What is this for and has anyone installed one on the right side as well. I'd like to have a holding point for a bungee-type cargo net.

then why's bolted under the rear seat like a grab bar?

i have a center stand and #13 is not installed anywhere near it. it's under the tail section just in front of 19,20,21.

because that is where you need it to get the bike up on the centerstand correctly.
left hand on left handle bar, left foot on centerstand lever arm, right hand lifting up via grab handle under left edge of seat.

my 80 has one under the left edge of the seat as well as the two for a passenger. (modified from the one wrap around one)

As said, the left one is for lifting the bike up on to the center stand. Like you, I needed one for my rear seat bag and cargo net. I had a mounting bracket from an old KG backrest/rack that connects to the right rear turn signal mount. I measured the distance from that bracket to the top right shock mount and a friend cut a piece of flat, thin steel about 1/8th inch thick to the length I needed, rounded off the ends and drilled holes in each end to the size I specified (about 3/8ths). Painted it black and it works great. I'll try to get a picture today and post it.

pic of my home made right side grab rail

Pretty simple really. I think the hard part might be finding or fabricating the KG back rest bracket that holds the rear mounting bolt.
