81 gs550t shim sizes and clearances

I am looking for information on the shim sizes and clearances for an 81 gs550t.Can you help?

Have you checked a service manual? Most should give it. If you need to measure what shims you have, a dial caliper can give you a pretty accurate measurment. I don't have a manual for a 550, so that's all the help I can be of ~

Surely someone on here can chime in with that info, I know there's a service manual or two floating around some members' garages ~

Clearance and adjustment process is the same for all 8 valve GS engines...

Search function is a wonderful thing!

I have a soft copy of the GS550 original Suzuki Factory workshop manual. PM me if you would like and I'll see if I can send it to you. I think it is fairly large.

            Cheers

Have at it (5 Mbps from Verizon FiOS is a wonderful thing):

BTW, the section you are looking for is like page 80 or so.

Thanks everybody, we have the info now. All of the valves were way too tight. We found shims at our local Suzuki dealer. Got 6 shims for 20 bucks. Not too bad. Now on to my petcock issues! Thanks DimitriT, I use the same service, great for big downloads.
