    If you're planning on keeping your GSX then definitely get a multimeter, doesn't have to be fancy/expensive, but you will need it for when the electrics (stator, reg/rec, earthing points, switch blocks, etc etc etc) start playing up.

      Another quick check you can do: disconnect the wire from the switch and let it dangle without touching metal. Turn on your ignition. If your oil light is still on, the wire is grounding out somewhere. If it is not on, you have a problem with the switch or oil flow.
