    Whats interchangeable??

Ok so here this weekend thanks to a fellow GSr I'll be taking delivery on a 80 750..Top end is probably shot, and I had thought to maybe rebuild it, but then i also started thinking, i know that the head wont match up to my 77 ( 8 valve vs 16 etc) but what about the guts of the crank case? What from the 80 would be interchangeable with my 77? or are they completely different to the point where nothing is the same?? Any thoughts??

    Thanks!!

    Schematics

I guess you could compare the schematics and figure it out pretty easily. My guess is that they are completely different.

Very little will interchange -- the engines, frames, electrics, instruments, and braking systems are all different between the 8 and 16 valve models. There are lots of common bits and pieces here and there, like seals, bolts, and such, but none of the major systems are interchangeable.
