    GS intake boot questions...

I have an '83 GS1100GL that I'm looking at different induction options for, particularly an EFI conversion using a Megasquirt. I'm trying to determine the inside diameter of the intake boots on the bike now, but Googling around didn't turn up much. Anyone have any ideas? The spare set of carbs I have measured right around 41mm in outside diameter...Is that the biggest outside diameter I can run? Are there any larger boots available?

Think you might get the measurements on the Fiche at BB or flatout.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong section of fiche...The cylinder head section lists the boots, but only a part number and not any measurements.

You might want to post this in the Performance Mods forum since those guys have lots of experience with this sort of stuff.

Sounds like a good project and good luck.

Maybe this will give you some sort of guidance. The inlet manifold o-ring size is shown as 39.7mm x 2.4mm for the 1980 GS1000G which uses Mikuni BS34SS carbs. I see the o-ring size for the 1983 GS1100L is given as the same size. I also measure 39mm on the carb side inner of the rubber boot and 38mm on the inner locating ridge of an old GS1000G boot.

Anyone wanna bet whether or not the intake ends of some '01-'03 Suzuki GSXR-600 throttle bodies (butterflies are 38mm in diameter) will fit in to the stock boots? A guy has got a set on an '82 Yamaha XS1100, which apparently used BS34s, without having to hack the boots to much...So I'm guessing they'll fit. Now I just get to hack up linkages, fuel rails, etc. to get the throttle bodies to fit as a unit.

Try www.cyclewareables.com for carb holders..I found one to fit my GPZ throttle bodies.
