I seem to have lost my mate....

    Hey guys,
I'm in the process of rebuilding my 1977 400 that I got over the summer. Look for my other post. Any who.... I'm currently working on the wiring up my bike, blind as I have no resources to do it, and I came across this female end conection:

It sits under the gas tank and appears to go nowhere. What I am wondering is where does it go? Is it important? Will it make me coffee? Any insight would be nice.

    Thanks guys.

Ah damn if those wire colors and connector don't look familiar. I remember pulling that connector apart on my wire harness but can't remember exactly what it went to. If no one chimes in I'll post what it is when I get home

            I'm not 100% sure..
But i have a gs400, and will check for you.

I'm thinking it may be your ignition.
I will check though.. if you don't hear back from me here, pm me

            I also have a manual

It doesn't connect to anything. I noticed it on my 400 last week when I had the tank off. I've had the 400 since new so I know it hasn't been messed with. The wiring diagram also shows those wires going to a connector that isn't connected to anything.

The yellow/red wire comes from a connector by the guages but isn't connected to anything there either.
The green/red wire comes from the same connector by the guages - also not connected to anything on that end.
The black/white wire comes from ground. It's also the ground route for the taillight, horn, and headlight.
The orange wire comes from ignition switch and gets power when the key is ON. It also goes to the brake light switches, horn, and kill switch.

I scanned the wiring diagram from the factory shop manual. PM me if you want it. It's about 1 MB.
