Where is the best place to buy new points and condensors for my 78 GS750EC and is there a nickles worth of difference between brands?

I get 'em from Z1 enterprises. As far as quality, I suppose they all are about the same.

It would seem that the consensus on these forums is that the points and condensor system is unreliable versus buying a new electronic ignition setup that requires no maintenance.

Kind of an upgrade and forget it, kinda thing.

I have looked at the electronic systems and feel like I can buy a lot of points and condensors for the kind of money they want for electronic. The least expensive electronic system I I saw I think was around $200.00 bucks. And then my thought is if this is the cheapest around.......is it any good, will it perform, and will it last? Or is it a case where the cheapest electronic system is still better than a points and condensor system?
I suppose if I were racing the darn thing electronic would definitely be the only way to go. The old points and condensor system seems to work ok for what I want to do.
What do I expect to experience from an electronic system other than lack of maintainance?

Electronic is completely set and forget. It's not just low maintenance, it's no maintenance, no replacing anything on a regular basis, improved reliability. And more accurate timing, which results in smoother operation (may not be noticable) and improved performance (again may not be noticable)

If you're comfortable and happy with points then retain them. Does keep the bike more original, if you're into that sort of thing with it. TBH they are quick and easy to do and if the bike is screw and locknut tappet adjusters then it only adds a minute or so to the job of doing a tuneup.

I just bought points for my GS1000 from the ebay store Rusty Riders LLC in Ohio. They had the best price and fast service.

I am staying with points until I can get other stuff on the bike taken care of. It is just a matter of priorities.

I have owned my gs750 for four years now and have been messing with the points from the beginning. Last week I installed a dyna III electronic ignition and my bike has never ran better. I am surprised at how much better it performs since the change to electronic ignition.
Ebay has many Dyna S ignitions for sale at $129, I would have bought one of these but I found a Dyna 3 for $75 on ebay. So far the BEST money I have spent on my ride in the time I have owned it.

The points and condenser system on these bikes is VERY reliable and performance is very good with it. I've only owned my GS1000 for 14 years and am on a second set of points in the last 60,000km with excellent history.
It wouldn't surprise me if you could just order OEM points/condensers from your local Suzuki dealer if you didn't want to try aftermarket sets. One thing you can expect from an electronic system vs points, is that when the electronic system breaks down, you likely won't get it going on the side of the road out in the middle of nowhere.
