    GS550E 78 big bore kit

Hi all, I am looking around to see if anyone has seen the Wiseco big bore kit (620cc) for the early model GS550. I believe it was available a number of years ago but was discontinued. Any leads would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Good Luck. Anything for the smaller displacement engines in terms of aftermarket is long gone.

Put a top end off a GS650E on it. Search the posts by "Nerobro", or PM him. I'm sure He'll point you in the right direction.

What advantage will that give you. Are the valves bigger, cams different, etc.

Top end = pistons, barrels, head etc. More displacement.

I get the impression that "top end" might include the cylinders and pistons, too. 8-[

For my twopenn'orth the Wiseco kit, whilst nicely made and a quality item, isn't worth the expenditure. I fitted one many moons ago on a bike long since sold. The kit was second hand then but still cost me a good few shillings. I also had some special cams and played with various carbs. You can make a 550 quicker but the power gains per dollar are pretty low. I think I would have been better advised to lighten the bike - they are pretty heavy stock.

Yes I get it now. my mistake. In OZ top end means cylinder head only or in the people I hang out with anyway.

                Cheers Don

P.S. That means I can give my 550B some more zip. All I have to do is find one. Is the 550 and 650 bottom end all the same.

What year did the GS650 come out and did it have VM or the CV carbs.

Besides some time invested at the gym, what would you recommend as far as lightening the bike?
