New coils available?
Hi everyone. Bought new HT cable for my gs550. After taking off coils, i think ive destroyed the coil by trying to remove ht cable. Seems to be a sealed unit. Anyone know where i can buy a new set of coils for 1981 gs550

Coils are still available from Suzuki - not cheap though... http://houseofmotorcycles.bikebandit...x-1981/o/m6085
Of course, there is always ebay or aftermarket. Z1 sells Dyna coils for a fair price http://z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=210
Before spending any money you should make sure your old coils are truely unusable. If there is still any HT cable remaining, you can add a splicer and connect a new piece of cable. You can also try to dig the old cable out - it can be done if you want to work hard enough at it http://www.xs11.com/tips/repair/repair24.shtmlEd
To measure is to know.

If there is nothing wrong with your coils, why replace 'em?
You can dig out the wire and install new ones from the auto parts store.
Cheap fix.
