Pilot fuel screws

I need to find some pilot screws for a gs1000.
I might need oversized screws also.
Can anyone tell me where to order them as I can't seem to find them on the net.

The easiest way to get them is to buy the carb kits offered on ebay or thru parts sources. Make sure to verify the content of the kits They are not all the same

I can get you standard (I think) Pilot screws for VM26mm carbs (1979 GS1000LN). I can check the jet size this weekend.

to be clear, are you looking for the pilot jet in the bowl, the air screw or the fuel screw.

I have rebuilt the carbs already so I just need the pilot screws.
The bike bandit site does not show the pilot fuel screw on the bottom of the Mukini Carbs pic.
I might need oversized pilot screws also as the screw are all the way in and it is still rich.
Is there somewhere online I can just order the screws?

I ran into the same problem but for a 1979 GS550. I looked around for pilot screws with little luck, couldn't find them individually anywhere. I contacted motorcyclecarbs.com...here a part of the e-mail thread...

Bet it is.

This is the ONLY kit that has that screw from the bottom and the air screw. But as you can see it is a GS750 kit.

The same problem is with the GS1000 from 77/79 also. No pilot screw.

There is also a GS550 kit for the 77/79 but i dont have one or a picture of it.

I forwarded a copy to R&D Dept of the kit mfr to see if the 550 kit has that pointed screw also.

Upon his reply I will advise you. But I know the 750 kit has the screw you need.

The 750 kit however will have different jet sizes than the 550 requires but the gaskets, float valves etc should work.

So, I ended up spending the money for the carb kit just for the pilot screws. Not sure if the 750 kit would have the correct size screw, but it is a possibilty.

To lean it out, I think you need to open up the top (air) circuit in addition to tightening up the bottom (fuel) circuit. I forget which one had a cover from the factory.

My understanding is that the fuel screws are the same for the various VM carbs. When I needed two screws for my 550, I ordered two rebuild kits for the 750 from Z1 enterprises. They seem to be work fine.

As a side note, make sure the tips of the old screws are not broken off in the carb. If so, carefully punch them backwards working from inside the carb pushing outward.

There are only 3 different screws for all the Mikuni carbs. I bought aset from this guy:

Excellent guy to deal with. Alls you need to do is tell him the over all length of the screws you need.
I also have some extras, post up the length and a pic and I will see if I have one....

The guy from motorcyclecarbs is correct. The only kit that has the sharp pointed fuel screws is the K&L kit for the GS750 with VM carbs. When I needed the same screws, I found them available from somewhere, but they wanted $23.00 each for them. I found the K&L kits on ebay for $16.00 each. I used the screws and gaskets from the kit and tossed the rest.

Pilot fuel screw

Ok I might not need new pilot screws.
The problem I am having is the pilot circuit is running rich on cylinders 1 & 2
The screws are almost all the way in and its still rich.
Air filter and exhaust is stock and I have already rebuilt the carbs.
Is there a way to lean out the pilot circuit maybe change the pilot jet?
