Seat trouble
82' GS850. I thought I bought a better conditioned seat on e-bay, but its the same year just a "L" seat with the key in the back of the seat. I didn't realize it and it has been already shipped. Is there any way to try and make that "L" seat fit onto the "GZ" mold where the seat goes? The bottom of the "L" seat has no rust as my seat has lots of rust and can't really work with it. Let me know and thanks.Tags: None

L seat won't fit on a G from what I've read here (I don't have any personal experience either way). Sorry if this is bad news.Ed

I have an GS550L & I can tell you the L model seat is quite different - I would doubt you could adapt this L seat to the other models.
When you look at the factory manuals for all our GS's, the "L" model differences are always highlighted. Differences such as seats, suspension, fuel tanks, carb settings & wheel sizes appear to be common differences from the standard (G, E, ES) models.
Good luck though, perhaps someone here needs an L seat.

The GL model seat won't fit the G chassis. Not even close.
You'll need a seat from an 82-83 850G or 1100G. As you've found out, many sellers have no idea which is which.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. I should have paid more attention to the seat itself and not just looking at the underneath where had no rust at all. The title said a 1982 GS850. Not a GS850L. It really stinks because I got it for a really good price off of fleabay, but maybe someone here would like a 1982 GS850L seat when I receive it, I will take more detailed pics and post them on here for you guys to take a look at and maybe want to buy. Thanks for the feedback guys and I will keep you posted when I get the seat.

I don't have that seat anymore. I looked and probably gave/sold it last year at some point. Sorry.
