    Chain Sprocket cover

Just took mine off and it is full of some old spongey foam stuff, which would appear to be original.
I'm on an 80 gs750 , and had a 550 about 10 years ago, don't remember seeing any spongey foam cack on the sprocket cover on it.

    Anyone care to elucidate?

    Looks like expanding foam

I run an aftermarket counter sprocket and also bought a chrome cover without the "lost sponge" and I hear alot more chain noise than before.:?
