speed bleeders
I have a 82' GS850GZ. I am going to bleed both brakes. The speed bleeders offered on fleabay are a set of two. But there are 2 brake hoses in the front and one hose in the rear. So would I need 3 brake bleeders? Or can I take one off and use it for another hose? Thanks again,

You'll need one for each caliper you want to try them on. The minute you take one off of a bled caliper, you've introduced air back into that system and you'll be bleeding it again.

I tried speed bleeders on my GS850, but wasn't at all impressed.
The money would be far better spent on a MityVac -- it's fast, easy, and thorough.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

No big deal.
Mine work just fine but considering the cost and the fact that it's a job not done often (and is easy to do without them), I wouldn't buy them again.1980 GS1100E....Number 15!

Just my opinion ...... speed bleeders are a bit pointless & unreliable at best, after all how long does it take to bleed brakes properly ? half an hour maybe ! even six pots are easy enough if you know how,
Despite what you might read elsewhere, brakes are really easy to bleed & those that have trouble usually dont know how to do it or have a problem somwhere in the system

If you've got to replace the original nipples and you can get the speed bleeders cheap enough they're worth having. But that's about it I reckon.

Speed bleeders on a bike are pretty useless. After all, it's easy to reach the lever/pedal with one hand and the bleed nipple with the other. That being said, I do have speed bleeders on my 4Runner and they work great. It makes a two-person job a one-person job for about a quarter of the price of a MityVac.

Ok. I will probably not buy them off of fleabay and do it myself at somepoint when I start the other gasket repairs when I get a chance to use someone's garage. Thanks guys.

If your quick with a wrench & don't let the pedal (or lever) loose, you don't get air anyway.
I bought a Mighty-Vac too... I think I'll try it this evening, just to see if it works.

This valve, which fits inline in the hose coming off the bleeder, is about the size of a marble. If you put it on the right way, air doesn't backwash, and you can do the whole job on a car even, without help. BTW, the Mercedes part number on the part is 123-800-00-78. Dealer price on this is $9.25.
