Seat Removal on a 83 GS550E?
I just picked up another GS 550 and I can't figure out how to remove the seat. I would'nt think it should be this difficult. Am I missing something? Is there a trick?Tags: None

To get the seat of my 82 550 I just turn the key in the top of the rear cowling and lift the seat clear - easy. Don't know if yours is the same.
On my 80 550 the key fits on the RH side between the side panel and rear shock; the lock opens and the seat lifts on a hinge on the LH side.
As far as I know those are the only ways the GS550 seat works. (Though you might have what we over here termed the GSX550).

There is a keyhole near the rear of the left sidecover. Turn it forward to unlock the helmet holder, turn it backwards to unlock the seat.sigpic
