I have a 1983 GS1100GK and my ignitor box went out. I was wanting to know if a 1982 GS1100 would fit my bike

    Yes.

      KD vs. ND

Could this be the manufacturer of the original ignition system on the particular year/model of bike? "ND" = Nippon Denso. If the sticker on the original ignitor has survived, it should have the manufacturer's name on it.

Good link and excellent idea re Dyna ignitions - you may have solved a problem for a ailing Honda I know of (now why didn't I think of that? Because I'm stupid!) What a useful site!

ND stands for Nippon Denso ignitions and KD stands for Kokusan Denki ignitions. The Dyna S electronic ignition installation instructions read; Suzuki 550/750/850/1000 four cylinder motorcycles. ( this includes the 1100/1150's also).
Part # DS3-1 for Kokusan Denki ignition systems.
Part # DS3-2 for Nippon Denso ignition systems.
        Doze.
