    Shendgin (?) R/R

When I bought my new 'ride', the guy included a R/R from Shendgin (sp)..with 5 wires...green/white, red, yellow, white/blue... how can I bench test this to see if it's any good? It looks like new!!8-[ The number is SH590A-13...do I have a good one???

I don't think that model SDG will work. It might, but I'd be carefull using it. It is designed to work with the field coil style stators Honda used. The stators had electromagnets or something like that.

If you need an RR I can help you out for 40 bucks.

You only list four wires above. Any 3-phase regulator will work. Is there a black wire on yours? What's the Part number (Starts with "SH")

OOOOOOOPS! The 5th wire is the shorter black/white ground wire.

The product number is SH590A-13 and it looks to be almost brand new.

EDIT: I did some searching and found that it's for all the large GS's!! The stock number is 32800-49X50 (I guess I made out pretty well!)

There are 3 wires on a Honda regulator, 3 for the stator, 1 for ground and 1 to sense the actual voltage being put out to the system to charge the battery, Ted

Those looked like Suzuki color codes, that's why I asked.

              Here's most MC rectifier/regulator wiring:

              Three wires (Harley Generator)
              - 2x generator field coils
              - 1x batt +

              Three wires (BMW/Guzzi Alternator):
              - 1x alternator output
              - 1x batt +
              - 1x batt -

Four wires (two phase permanent magnet Alternator - Old Honda/British):
              - 2x stator coils
              - 1x batt +
              - 1x batt -

Five wires (three phase permanent magnet Alternator - including all GS):
              - 3x stator coils
              - 1x batt +
              - 1x batt -

Six wires (three phase permanent magnet Alternator - Some Honda):
              - 3x stator coils
              - 1x batt +
              - 1x batt -
              - 1x voltage sense

Seven wires (three phase permanent magnet Alternator - Some newer Honda):
              - 3x stator coils
              - 2x batt +
              - 2x batt -

That should about cover it. There are some oddballs like Goldwings, but I think they're like BMWs and Guzzis with an alternator.
