    78 & 79 fuel petcock

Is there a difference between a 79 petcock and a 78 I have a 79 damaged tank and can get a 78 tank? will the 79 petcock fit the 78 tank. OEM specs have two different valves (N) for 79 , and a (C) for 78. will it fit?

I think the answer is yes they are different. My original '78 1k tank rotted out so I bought the generic replacement tank. It looks a lot like the tank on the '79 and '80 1000S model and has a longer bolt spacing than the '78. May not be the case on other '79s, but I think so. Ray

thanks ray. Where did you get the replacement tank. Suzuki wants about $350 for a new one (79)but they longer offer the indented 78 tank.

I got one from bikebandit.com. It cost quite a bit more than that, sounds like a deal if you can get it from Suzuki. I'm sure it is the same one I got, no indents and a silver paint job, longer petcock bolt pattern. Ray
