    Will a 750 tank fit my 1000?

I've got a 2nd GS1000 that lacks tank, seat and the rest of the bodywork. I'm thinking about making it a cafe racer.

There's some one on the local Craigslist with a pre 1980 GS 750 he's selling for parts that does have bodywork.

Will the seat, tank and tail swap onto the 1000 chassis?? Or are mods required??

I am reasonably certain that 850 parts would fit, but I am not so sure about 750 parts.

I can say from experience, a pre80 tank wont fit a post 80 750 frame. The shoulders are a little wider. However i dont know about a 1000. If the frames are similar, then i would guess not.

When I had my 79 750E, I had a friend that had a 78 1000E that I used to work on occasionally. I remember the gas tanks as being the same between those two models. Cant speak for any other year/model though.
