    Mature Audiences Only

I don't think this is an S&M device, but I suspect it could be worse!!!

This is not factory as there is tape of the back of the normally open SPST momentary pushbutton switch. Somehow I don't think this for the horn. Any ideas??? I have heard tell of speed shift kill switches but not sure the rider would want to reach to the center of the bar during a speed shift.

    Any ideas welcome.

    TIA Posplayr

Alarm? Turn key & push button to disable? But then you'd think it was hidden.

    Dunno!

hazard lights? That's what I'd use it for. I'm planning on adding them to my bike if I can find a nice switch.

It might have been for a horn, but not the primary horn.
Could have been an air horn or some kink of novelty horn, therefore the extra reach to activate it did not matter.

Whats it off of, a calvacade or something???If it was an on-off switch I would guess heated grips maybe.

Sorry about not saying what bike

It was in the spare parts box I got from the PO on my new (to me) 1983 GS1100ED

The part was not on the bike, but assume it was at some time. The bike has a definte sport orientation attributable to both 1st/2nd PO. (SS brake lines, Yosh exhaust, 36 mm GS1150 carbs, K&N pods, Stage III, Hot coils, oil cooler, fork brace, 10.25:1 rebuild, .....

I would suspect it is a powershift cutout switch.

I would bet that the PO used the horn button for the shifter switch, and used that switch for the horn. That way it would still be (barely) legal.
The letter of the law says you have to have a working horn, but the button can be anywhere.

                          Momentary SPST switch

SPST - Single Pole Single Throw (Two Wires)

I don't think the wires are stock although they are from a Suzuki
The witch is rated at 240 VAC so i dont think it is stock.

                          Yellow/ Green Stripe wires (both)

8TrackMind I think you got it

I just checked the horn wiring and it is a feeble attempt at a wiring job with the same type of wire as on the Dana coils primary. The 2nd PO must have removed the center switch , restored the operation of the horn button and wired in the Dana Coils without the kill switch (the spare hi tenson wires are in the box, and I remember him telling he added them).

Well even though the were some horrors perpetrated on my steed, in the meantime (probably the 1st PO) did the upper end as the CR averages 190 psi cold; so she is still strong!!! \\/

Thanks, that is another mystery solved.

I'm considering doing a momentary contact kill switch for quick shifting, do the GS transmissions take abuse decently?
