    Looking for carb parts

    Hi Guys,

I'm hoping that you guys will be able to help me in sourcing some parts for my '77 - GS750. I need the small tubes that connect 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 carbs together. It's got Mikuni VM 'slide' type carbs and the tubes I am talking about are made of aluminium (aluminum). I have numerous Mikuni carbs in my shed (Yamaha, Kawasaki etc) but they all have plastic or rubber tubes connecting them.

Can I get these small tubes anywhere? I tried bike bandit but no luck. Any ideas?
I also already did the 'search' and after reading multiple threads am none the wiser.

These prices are absolutely shameful, but...

I don't know if they will ship to Oz, though. They should be able to mail them easily enough.

      Thanks bwringer.

I also found these guys in Sth Australia - http://www.iwt.com.au/carbdrawings.htm . They have an enormous amount of parts for Mikuni carbs. It's night time here ATM but I will give them a ring tomorrow. I'll let you know how I go.

If I don't have any luck (locally) I'll shoot an email to the guys in the US. Any more links or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have a rack of VM26 carbs for scavenging. I'll see if these are on it.

I think VM carbs are quite similar from one another from one size to another but the spacing between the carbs may be different thus one needs to be careful when interchanging parts like this.

On my '79 550 the fuel feed "T" was cracked and the part is not available from Suzuki. A friend helped make one for me from a piece of brass - he did an amazing job. I subsuquently found out that Z1 Enterprises sells a T for a Kawasaki model that I "think" would have worked. At any rate, check out all the various places that sell VM carb parts, even those for other models - you may find what you need there even though it's not listed for Suzuki.

Thank you so much guys. Here I am on the other side of the Pacific and you guys are taking the time to give me advice. It is very much appreciated.

I have a set of very similar carbs off a KZ900, I'll strip them down and see if the bits will fit. They look to be different from the outside (plastic) but they may be the same size.

            I love this forum.

Zooks dpending on the year of those KZ900 (76 and up) carbs, they were also supplied by VM26SS. So you should be able to use just about anything. Intake port spacing may have different however.

True. Problem is because the spacing is different, interconnection pieces, like those Zooks is looking for, may be different to match.

                  Connector between 3 & 4 carb

This is what it looked like when I removed it

This is what it should look like (I slid a small bolt through it to hold it together)

                  This shows dimensions.

I looked at the Z900 carbs that I have and the connectors on those are 'T' pieces similar to the pics that Nessism put up.
                  I need two straight connectors.

                    All fixed - YEEHAA!!!!

I saw an engineer neighbour of mine (that I haven't seen for while) the other day and he said "I can turn those little connector tubes up on my lathe in about 20 minutes" .

                    So he did -

Absolutely stoked. They work perfectly and cost me a couple of beers.

I have kept the specs (measurements) written down for later reference if needed. If anybody needs them shoot me a PM.
