    I need a spare ignition key 1981 GS850G

I only have one... and one day I'll drop it in a storm drain and be really MAD !!

There is a guy selling Suzuki keys on ebay. I bought one from him and it works perfectly. Make sure you clarify what kind of key you need when ordering; there are different shank lengths.

    Good luck.

Cool! I've only had one set of keys since I got my bike last year and I've been worried about losing them. I just bought a set off this guy after seeing this thread. Looks like they're genuine Suzuki keys too.

I have never had a problem getting a key from your 'normal' key places; Lowe's, Ace Hardware, etc., although a larger locksmith shop will likely be better-equipped.

You can still order a Suzuki key blank, too.

            Thanks

Thanks for the thread to remind me that I need a second key. My local Suzuki dealer's key machine is on the fritz and when I've checked at Home Depot, etc, they don't have the blanks. Now I'll have one "just in case".

Had one made last Year for My 850 at a local locksmith. $3.18 and it worked perfectly.

Yea, but does it have that nifty plastic head on it?

Nope, no plastic head (in my case). They will most likely use an appropriate automotive blank, so the key will end up being longer than the original...works perfectly, though....since it's a spare, not having the 'Suzuki' logo isn't a huge deal, IMHO.
