Carb cleaning basic question
I'm not too proud to ask a stupid question, so here goes. After you "dip" the carbs and related parts, do you rinse with water or do you just blow them dry with compressed air? I was kinda concerned about things rusting if I used water.Tags: None

I'd use air. Or just wipe them down. I don't figure a little carb cleaner is going to hurt much past the carbs.

if you use berrymans, they have a layer of water on top of the solvent to rinse as it comes out and to help keep the fumes down.

I will hit them hard with the water hose and then wipe with clean towel (paper) to remove excess water. Then a good blast of air to dry out passageways. I never liked the greasy residue that I get from the dip. The rebuilding always goes better with clean dry parts.

Lesson learned by NOT rinsing with water...the residual dip in the jets, even AFTER blowing them out, turns to a nasty lil gel when it evaporates...that one took me back to the drawing board...
