frame question
My question is simple yet complicated, I'd like to customized my 1981 GS450E by installing a seat and a rear fender from a GS450L but don't know if the frames are the same to allow for this mod; has anybody try this before?Tags: None

I don't know about the 450 model in particular but most if not all L model bikes had their own frame and the different parts are not interchangeable.Ed
To measure is to know.

Don't let them kid you...given enough time and money, ANYTHING is possible. \\/
Now, with that out of the way, depending on just what you are trying to accomplish with this little mod, you might be far better off just finding a 450L and be done with it. Cutting the frame to adapt it to a seat is rather major surgery to get the L look. It would be better to get an L and change the bars, fenders, whatever, to get rid of the L items that don't tickle your fancy.
