    Side covers-'76 or '78 1000G fit '80 1000???

In the quest to get our wonderful old 1980 1000G back to her former glory, we have found some off year sider covers. Will they fit? We can paint them no problem.

You sure you got your covers identified correctly? There was no GS1000 is '76. And in '78 there was no G model. The GS1000G entry came in '80.

To answer your question more specifically, no the '78 GS1000 frame covers are not the same as yours.

If you're still in the hunt, you might try www.oldkawman.com. He has a collection of suzuki side covers.

Like he said, no 1000G, pre 1980. I'm thinking the 850G & the 1000G shared the same body parts for a few years. Maybe "79" thru "81". I'm sure someone here knows for sure.

New side covers are still available from the factory. I bought one last year for a 78 gs1000.

Age old problem the GS850G/1000G are interchangable. The chain models GS 1000 E,S etc are different
