    gs1100g tappets clearance ?

    g'day all,i'm trying to help a mate out here so please excuse me if i get it wrong.
    he is putting the head back on his bike and needs the clearances.are the inlet and outlet clearances different ?
    what should they be ?

    if i'm not mistaken all 8v engines have the clearance 0.03-0.08mm

      Yup, that's exactly correct.

      And that's .03-.08 MILLIMETER, not thousandths of an inch.

        LoneRider, welcome to the forum.

        Just to point out the importance of keeping track of the system used (mm vs. inch), .03mm is the minimum clearance, .003" is the maximum.
        It can get real confusing, real quick.

          thanks all very much.....

          my mate is also looking at putting an oil cooler to the engine [ it gets very hot up here in central west qld,40+c is fairly typical in the shade]
          has any body done this ?
          how ? what was used ?
          can any info be posted so as to be easily followed ?

            plenty of info already posted, have a search, it's a common mod
            also, for a new question it's better to post a new thread

            but with those temeprataures you get up there you might need an oil-inter-cooler
            GS850GT
