Has anyone on the Forum owned, or known anyone who has owned these X-pipes made by Monte Campbell in CA? I am curious to know if they work as he claims or not.

Claims are just claims until proven....I don't think this protracted discussion ever revealed anyone that actually had put this pipe on their bike. Someone might, however, do it just for the "look" of it as opposed to any performance-gain claims....Comment

From what I remember the guy is a real jerktard, if you ask for technical info about performance he gets all uppity and acts like you are too stupid to understand such things. There are no numbers posted anywhere in his info, just miraculous claims. Even if they work OK I'll go elsewhere.Comment

I have a friend who has one of the infamous X-Pipes on his '81 Yamaha XS-11. The bike is jetted correctly for the pipes, and I've ridden it quite a bit.
It's louder than a factory exhaust, but no louder than a typical 4 into 1 from Kerker or V&H. As for power, the bike runs strongly, but no more so than my GS1100G, probably about the same.
I doubt if it is significantly better or worse than any other aftermarket exhaust. The outrageous claims on the website would turn me off to purchasing it more than anything else.GS450E GS650E GS700ES GS1000E GS1000G GS1100G GS1100E
