Hi everyone, I had a rusty gas tank, many recommended to use POR15, I got the stuff, it is three step process, not very easy steps, but I did my best to follow all the instructions that came with the product, now after cleaning the carbs for second time even with inline filter I am getting fine dust like residue in the carbs and that is clogging the pilot jets, any one had this experience before, and any solution?

Sounds like your tank sealing job did not work. Common problem unfortunately.
I suggest you pull off the tank and drain it into a can. After you are done, look inside the can to see if there is rust particles inside.
Dry out the tank and remove the petcock. Once you have the petcock off look inside the tank with a flashlight and check the POR sealing job - putting the flashlight shining in through the tank cap hole will provide enough light for you to look into the tank through the petcock hole.
I went through hell and back after a failed POR sealing job. Had to remove the POR sealer using paint remover, took multipul applications. In the end I got it though. Wound up using Caswellplating epoxy to seal in the end - which I'm happy to report is holding up well.

I have done several tanks with POR15 and have had excellent results. None of the tanks I did had excessive rust so maybe that's a factor. I can assure you it is tough stuff. I spilled some on my concrete porch four or five years ago and it looks like it was spilled yesterday. Check the web and you'll see great and terrible reviews for all tank sealers. Preparation is the key.

I agree that preperation is the key. The instructions POR provides assumes the tank is in pretty good shape. For example, they recommend leaving the phosphate etch solution in the tank for no more than two hours which in my experience won't do much to remove the rust if it's bit in good and created pits in the metal.
On my second attempt to seal my tank I left the phosphate solution in the tank for two days - rotating every few hours. This removed all the rust but left the surface of the tank with a chalky residue. Followed up with a bag of aquarium rocks and denatured alcohol to do the final rince out. The gravel is great to really scoure the surface of the tank and remove all residue left behind - using nuts and bolts or drywall screws doesn't work for crap (I tried). Lots of trial and error - we learn from our mistakes...hopefully.Ed

That stuff looks awesome. I have never used POR-15, but on reading the instructions, it looks like a "1-part" epoxy, where it's supposed to cure when exposed to air.
The one thing I do know, is that true 2-part epoxy does not react with ANYTHING (except paint stripper)once cured. I have a tank that may be leaking, and this is what's going in it.Yamaha fz1 2007

Since you are having problems....and this may continue....look for a radiator shop that will do the work for you.
