    Question About Measuring Float Height...Again

    After buying a digital caliper and trying to measure my float heights, I have several questions. Steve has already provided some great information and pictures for this process. however, I have some additional questions for my application.

    1) Where should I be measuring to in my picture? #1 or #2? Number 1 measures 22.40mm in agreement with specificiations but I wasn't sure where on the float I should be measuring.

    2) The end of my digital caliper should be positioned "inside" the lip? See #3.

    8-[Nice caliper.

    Now look inside the lip, you will see a little line running around the edge that will depress the center of the gasket.
    That is your measuring reference point, so drop the end of the caliper just inside the lip, turn it sideways so the caliper body will sit over the float, and you will be aiming for a spot to the right of #1, but not as far over as #2. Just under the left screw of the caliper would be perfect. \\/

      Yes, #3 is correct inside the lip and #2 is closer to where you need to measure than #1, I measure between them, where the higher piece steps down, and before the curve.

          One more thing...

          If I should need to adjust the "tang", what is the best method? That float is quite delicate and would have to mess it up! :-D

            I used a small flat head screw driver.

              I used a little flat head screwdriver and was very gentle. A minute adjustment is actually major. Remember you're dealing in millimeters. Also, just so you are sure and dont do what i did. Since the carb is upside down, you'll need to adjust opposite of what it looks like. IE If the float is high when you measure, the floats are actually too low, and vice verse.
