    Steering Head Bearings

Replacing them on my GS550, but little confused. I've been reading the old threads on replacing the bearings for the past hour. In the pic below you can see a shoulder down inside the frame tube - is this the upper race? Its really flush with the tube and hard to punch from the bottom of the frame tube. This is a replacement frame, maybe the races were already removed or fell out !

Same with the lower tube, you can see the shoulder just up inside the tube. Sorry for the poor pic.

        head bearings

definitely no bearings fitted, the races sit on those two lips, upper and lower, to stop them going intothe headstock.
