    help with vesrah kit...

82' 850GZ. I have put on most of the vesrah kit. I have the base and valve gasket on. There is a little bag with 4 big o-rings, 4 small o-rings, 4 copper washers(which I know that they go before the acorn nuts), and then 4 tiny copper washers. I have not a clue to where the big/small o-rings and the tiny copper washers go on when replacing the top end. I really appreciate you guys taking the time to answer our questions as you have helped me out in the past.

it would be good if you could post pic as some vesrah kits seem to be different to others

the big o rings go at the botom of the cylinders (at the base), there's a groove there, and you may have not noticed the old orings if they're completely toast and look solid

the thinner copper washers and the small ROUND orings likely go (on top of each other) within the head gasket to seal the oilways

there should also be egg-shaped orings but you're not referring to these i think

I think the small copper washers go under the oil galley plug screws on the cylinder head.

Edit: just checked my 850 and no oil galley screws. 450 had them so I made a bad assumption that the 850 did too.

Yeah, Im sorry I do not have a pic. I know about the egg shaped ones and the cylinder ones you are reffering to. Are the small (like a dime size) o-rings supposed to go before/after with the head gasket?????

well thats where the problem is
the rings i got were such a size that they didnt fit neither INSIDE the head gasket nor nicely ON TOP...
thats why a pic would help

theres a current thread on gs1000 gasket replacement with pics, did that help?

lol. I have had a lot of frustration with this whole top end rebuild. But taking my time and asking every question that I can. After months of stripping bolts, taking things apart, waiting for parts to come in, bending oil rings and re-ordering them and waiting some more, I am going to be glad when it is up and running and that I can say that "I" rebuilt the top end as much frustration that it took me, I am doing it the right way and not the quick way. But thanks for the little joke . Im off to bed and will check out more in the morning....
