adjusted valves, feels less power

i just did a valve adjustment on my 82 gs1100l. every valve except for one was not in spec. they were all less then .03mm. so i put them all to within spec and it does feel a little smoother throughout the rpm range, but i can def feel a tiny loss of torque. does that make sense? only thing i can think off is that the since the valves were pushing in a little farther before the adjustment they were letting in a little more air/fuel and letting out a little quicker too. and since i increased the gap, now they are not opening as far. i dont know maybe im nuts. anyone else have this happen before. thanks.

You're right -- that makes no sense. If your valves are too tight, your compression will be affected negatively, to one degree or another. Also, the valves -- especially the exhaust -- will be extremely hot, since they have less time and less contact with their seats, so there's a chance of preignition.

What's more likely is that your engine's torque curve is a little flatter with the valves set properly, and you're missing that 'peaky' nature at a particular r.p.m.

yea i didnt think of that. i synced them before when the valves werent adjusted. now i adjusted them and i guess it needs a sync to go along with it. thanks.
