    Battery question

Well, I had too small of a battery for my 750L.
I had a 12L instead of a 14L in it (I think the 14L may have more cranking amps?)
Now I am looking for the right one and I see there are sealed gel batteries instead of the typical add it yourself batteries.
What is the difference and are the gel type better/longer lasting?
    Thanks

Well, they are not exactly "gel" batteries, but they are sealed.

Higher cranking power, more tolerant of higher voltage and you never have to check or add electrolyte.

I was doing some other shopping and came across these batteries at a decent price.

I don't have one of that particular model, but yes, I do have sealed batteries in all my bikes. We have a Batteries Plus store just down the road, and I get them there. Cost is about the same if you figure in the shipping on most on-line battery stores.

            Thanks for the info.
            By the way....
When I am cranking my bike, what should I be getting for a reading with a multimeter?
And what should I be getting once it is started and running?
            Thanks again

I have Yuasa YTX sealed batteries in both my bikes, and I'm never going back to regular batteries.

About $70 - $80 each shipped most places. Here's where I bought mine:

                  So I take it I need a 14 series for my '81 750L?
That seems to be the magic number.

My battery drops to that or maybe a little lower, but I had my bike started one day let it idle for awhile, shut it off and it would start back up.
But the next day, when I went to start it it just cranked over a few times really slow until it wouldn't crank any more.
I figure the battery is just too dead to hold a charge, but hate to go buy another battery if it's something else like the bike not charging the battery.

Sounds like a dead battery if it won't hold a charge. Early warning signs. My batteries have only lasted about 2 years for the Yuasa battery at $80. Trying the Walmart battery at $40. Couldn't be much worse.

$59.30 best price I've seen. Is it worth replacing a relatively new generic lead acid battery with one? http://www.bikebandit.com/aftermarke...173757+1175572
