    YeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

    Forget all my dumb questions.

The answer was the coil for plugs 1 & 4 (incidentally the only two cylinders that seemed to show any noticeable response to idle screw adjustments) She is running smooth as. Noticed it on start up.. it was only a millisecond b4 she fired and seemed just that little bit more responsive to the throttle and idled completely hiccup free. :-o

Straight up the steep (1:3) drive at between 1.5 - 2000 rpm... Not a flicker. Then out on the road for a short run and she pulled smoothly in top gear from 50 kph (sorry forgot to pin the rpm down but I think it was about 2400) upwards all the way to 7000. She runs all the way up to red line in 1st, 2nd & 3rd (then I got scared). On return I pointed her back up the drive and she purred all the way up at 1500 to 1700 rpm \\/

Thank you everyone (especially psyguy who was so patient and encouraging) for bearing with me through these (for you ) trying times.

I gotta go for a ride.
