Are Left and Right Rear Bearings the same?

Some places that sell wheel bearings specify the same part number for both left and right rear wheel bearings for both of my bikes. But....Suzuki lists 2 different part numbers. What gives with that????

Suzuki did use two different bearings...One has a plastic bearing shield, the other is metal. Other than that, they look identical. I don't have no idea why. It looked to me like they would interchange. Same O.D, same I.D., same width...Go figure.

You're right, one has a metal shield, the other plasitized with a copper inner surface. They're interchangeable as far as I can see, maybe I'll be surprised after I've repacked them and put them back in, maybe the metal shielded one will spray grease all ove my brake rotor since that's where I put it????

          Thanks!

Sorry for the late response but....thanks, very much, guys!! I am always curious about such things and had already bought a couple of bearings for the GS1100.

I appreciate your input and hope it helps others, as well!\\/
