cv fuel bowl small hole?
i,m having problems clearing the small hole on the cv carb bowl {81 gs550e} have tried fine guitar wire as in the carb cleaning thread on page 41 of 53 and it just wont clear, how small is the hole and can it be drilled out with a dremmel with, say a 1mm bit , or is there no hole on this model, have soaked them and tried for about 1-2 hrs to clear it , if this was left as is ,what would the symptoms be.

This page then....
Yes there is a hole there & yes you need to clear it... Mine were pretty clean but I made double sure by squirting Gum out through them with the straw inserted so it was under pressure... Be careful you don't get an eyeful. There shouldn't be anything in there that tough that you can't clear with a paperclip or something, it just joins to the other hole like you said...
Good luck,

if that hole in the picture is the one you are talking about, put the spray style carb cleaner with it's red straw thing on the bottom hole and point the thing away from your face and spray. I also used a cotton swab to get mine clean, but the directions on the pdf file work very very well.

If the hole is clogged after several hours in the dip, put them back in. Carb dip is not as agressive as it used to be and takes a while to work in some cases. Spray cleaner will help push out any soft sludge but it won't help for hard varnish.
Good luck.Ed

thanks all for your tips, it still wouln,t clear so i ended up using a fine/small bit approx 1mm and dremmell , cleared it but noticed a small amount of bras swarf in with the crap , so all i can assume is that they have a small brass reducer inside the bottom of that hole, may be i,ve knackered the bowls but i wont know untill i,ll give it a try with the carbs back on the bike
cheers
