    What's this bit for.....

    Can't upload my pics at the moment but it's the black round plastic bit with a wire going to it under the sprocket cover.
    Just below the sprocket. One wire soldered in there.

    78 GS1000E this one doesn't have a gear ind so I presume it's for the neutral light?

    If so (or even if not...) should it have a cap or a cover?

      Yep ,it's your neutral switch.I don't think it has a cover.Cheers,Simon.:-D

        Thanks, I was pretty sure it was.

        I can normally upload pics just took this one with my phone & didn't have the adapter for the micro SD to hand... Thanks for the offer though!
