will a gs1100L rack fit on a 850gl?

i have a luggage rack/backrest on my 82 gs1100L and i need to know if that would fit onto an 82 850gl? any experience with this? thanks.

When you say "GS1100L" you actually mean GS1100GL, correct? You're referring to the 8-valve shafty, aren't you?

If so, the 1982 GS1100GL and the 1982 GS850GL have the same identical frame, and are interchangeable in most, if not all, body parts.

So, the answer is yes.

well the side covers say 1100L, but yes also the GL. so i guess its a go. thank you.

What you have is a GS1100GLZ. "G" is for shaft-driven 8-valver. "L" is for the "low rider" style. "Z" is for the 1982 year model.

It would be useful for you to use this nomenclature correctly when requesting information about your bike.
