    light switches

Are US lights permanantly on? Does your switchgear not have an of bit onit?
I usually wire mine up to stay on and someone said your switchgear doesnt have it?
    Is this true?
Looking at gs1000s and gsx switchgear

US law mandated permanantly on head lamps sometime in the 1979 time range (not sure of actual date). When the law first kicked in the knob was still on the handlebar switch but it would not move.

I know my 79 has the switch on it but it wouldn't move. So what I did was unscrew the cap and broke the little tab off of it. So now when I work on it it won't go dead on me.

As n1elkyfan says, it's really easy to modify it. Also, you can still order the other switch for several bucks if your original one ever breaks.

On the GS1100, that's not an option.
