My biggest complaint is the left hand controls on the GS, I don't like how it handles the turn signals. I much prefer the click down to cancel the signal rather then trying to move the switch back to center, i hate the auto cancel feature which may be good for highway riding or people who are forgetful but it sucks for city driving especially when traffic is being retarded and slow, flipping on the brights is kinda awkward but isn't a huge deal for me at the moment because my brights don't work on my bike and its not because the bulb is burned out and the horn button is too small and too high up in comparison of where the turn switch is located in my opinion.
I'm not a fan of the mirrors that i have on my bike, not sure if they're stock, they do however screw into the controls. until i fixed them good recently they always got loose and pointed at either my groin or the sky. they're also big and ugly. I'm probably going to replace them with bar end mirrors.
I can't complain about the right hand controls because they do what they're supposed to do and you don't need them while riding, the brake lever tho is somewhat retarded in how they handled the brake light switch which also doesn't work on my bike at the moment. that part wasn't such a big deal until my rear brake pedal fell off of my bike while i was on the highway...
So i'm wondering if i could get some newer controls from whatever bike that would fit the 7/8th bars and splice/plug them into the electrical system, or will they have different resistances across their switches and crap that would make it a pain in the butt for electrical work?
has anybody grafted on new controls to these old bikes?
also I'd like to replace the master cylinder but i'd have to also replace the calipers to match, correct?
