Honda R/R Wiring Diagram
Hello all. I know that there used to be a wiring diagram provided by duaneage on the forum for the honda R/R mod. However after much searching and a couple of dead links, i cannot find it anymore. Does anyone else have a copy they can post? Thanks.Tags: None

awesome duaneage, thats what i was looking for. The other wires that were connected (white with red stripe and white with green stripe if i remember correctly) don't go to anything anymore I assume?

If you mean the two that go to the light switch, well they are disconnected on my bike. Also the square connector that served no purpose other than adding bad connections and resistance is gone too. Connect the stator right to the RR and the RR to the fuse box input. IF your lucky to have a Honda connect the black to the rear brake light switch, if you still have the Suzuki send me a PM and 40.00 and the next time you change the RR it will be forever.1981 GS650G , all the bike you need

got it. i'm running the honda unit off a cx 500. Is it ok to run the red off the honda unit directly to the battery through a 20A fuse? I'm assuming that this is all the fuse panel is doing, but i think it's going to be a bit cleaner (and fewer connections) to run the red off the RR directly to the battery with a inline fuse.

Wiring the upgrade for your separate units will be much like the upgrade for a combined unit, except that you have to take off two items before you install the new regulator/rectifier. You still have three wires coming from the stator, you still have output and ground wires.

yep, i would guess that with seperates all you will have instead of wires going into the rectifier, than wires going to the regulator from the rect, and then from the reg to the batt/ground/fuse....you will just have wires from the strator going to the R/R and then wires going to the ground/battery/fuse/sense. And you take 2 things off.

ok. to be honest, i really havent looked at it all that closely. i seem to remember something about a switch involving the headlight and the 3rd phase of the stator....not sure how that would matter, but just trying to educate myself a bit before diving in.....
thanks guys!1983 GS 1100 ESD :D

Third leg
Yea I was previoulsy confused about the set up , but in actuality you can do the mods without worrying about that. The 3rd leg goes through a ganged switch in the head lamp switch. Ganged means that when the head lights are on, the 3rd stator leg also has a separate switch that closes allowing the stator to supply power to the R/R through the third leg. The two circuits are independent but have two switches controlled mechanically by the same slide. Sayng it another way, third leg only supplies teh R/R whne the head lamp is on. When I read the descriptions as first I though the third leg was being fed through the head lamp but this is not the case. Look at the schematic it will explain alot.Posplayr

greg78gs750 R/R update???? availabe real estate on right side
greg78gs750 Have you done your R/R update yet? I'm getting ready to dive into a 77 GS750 R/R update .
Also ... According to the ever present and valuable photos it appears the left side (solenoid side) is the preferred location for stuffing in upgrades (ie coil/relay mods etc). Has anyone considered/used the other (right) side? .... seems to be a lot more real estate available.

I'm considering adding the extra fuse panel to the right side when i do my relay mod. The problem i have is that most of the ride side is covered by the air box and rear brake reservoir. I am going to try and find room for a project box over there, we'll see.
