    Oil light flickering after oil change

    I figure it is electronic, but just making sure. After I did the oil change I pushed the starter button, but didn't let the bike turn over, to get the oil moving. Then I started the bike and let it run about 30 seconds. I noticed the oil light was flashing on and off, (more of a flicker). What is this? Did I trip something or do something wrong?

    Also an update. The gas on the ground was dripping straight down from the petcock. It appears I didn't put the screws in well enough. The gas dripped down the bike and seemed to be coming from the magneto cover because the bike was on the kick stand and gravity forces it there. I think it must have mixed with some oil on the ground from when I changed the gasket on the magneto. When I changed the oil none of it smelled like gas, but I changed the oil and filter anyways.

    Now all I have to wait for is my air screw from Rich and The wife's bike will be set. Well, except for some carb fine tuning.

    Hi Mr. KRISTI'SGS550,

    Where was it idling? If it idles too low the pressure may not be up to normal.

      it was idling between 2k and 4k. I still don't have everything snyched, so I have to keep the choke on to run her.

        Did you check the connection at the sending unit? I had to take mine out and poke it once to get it to work again.

          No, I haven't checked that I will have to try that. I will let know know what happens.

          I am not sure if it is related but the bike wont turn over now. I have it on the battery tender to see if I can get it to turn over in a few minutes. Also I noticed even after only running for a minute or two the header pipes got really hot. All but the 1st one, which was still cold.

          I know I haven't synched yet and this could be the majority of my problem, but just letting you all know what is up.

            I'll bet that they might get warm, but not hot.

              yeah, no where near that HOT. Did you ever discover what was wrong? Have you fixed the problem?

                I'd have to guess retarded spark timing for those holes, not sure why it would happen

                  Hi Cory. If #1 exhaust is still cold that means there is no combustion in there. Could be a spark plug. That's why you have to run on choke, cos it's only running on 3 cylinders. Anyway check the spark on #1, you know the drill, connect plug to HT lead and lay plug on cyl head and crank engine, look for blue fat spark. If you need more help message us back and we will help with other suggestions.

                    I was more worried about how hot the other three were after a few minutes of running. I have never noticed this before. I will check my plug in #1. I am sure that is the problem here.
