GS850 guru's are oil pans different between years?

I have a '79 GS850 and recently purchased an exhaust from a later model GS850, I think '82. My original rotted exhaust did not have the exhaust crossover pipe under the oil pan but the replacement does and it now very nicely covers up the oil drain plug. Is the drain plug on the later model 850's in a different spot? I sure hope so because I don't want to dismantle the exhaust just to change the oil! Since I've been meaning to replace that pan anyway because the drain plug threads are just about shot, would an oil pan from a 82 or 83 GS850 just bolt right on and solve the issue? I don't have a way to compare them as the bike bandit schematics are not too clear.

The parts fishe shows the Oil Pan in the Oil Pump - Oil Filter section.

Seems the '79 is unique and '80 - '82 is different. Not sure how different but the drain plug seems obvious. Gasket is the same all years.

The only difference in oil pans comes from the L models, they had mount holes added for that center exhaust cross over which would only be an issue if you still have stock exhaust, a 4 into1 you could use any 850 oil pan from any year 850.

        My '82 850G (non L) has the cross-over chamber.

Thanks all, I guess I'll be looking for a '80 or later oil pan then with the drain more rearward.
