    Quick, dumb little question

    Hey all, I removed my gas tank to replace my coils the other day and somehow managed to pop my fuel line off of the carbs, but I can't for the life of me find where to hook it back up to. Where does the fuel line connect into the carbs? My bike is a 1980 GS850L.

    I've looked at diagrams and can't figure it out. Thanks!:-D

    there should be a T fitting inbetween 2 and 3 carb bodies

      My exact ride... There is a T between carbs 2 & 3, down low near the bottom of the rack, just about against the air box. Getting that back on was the first time I took the air box out... It's not that bad on the 850. Getting it back on can be frustrating, but easier than getting the fuel hose back on directly. Feel underneath to make sure the boots go on all the way around. I always disconnect the hoses from the petcock, myself.

        Sounds a little more in-depth than I had thought it would be. Okay I'll check it out when I get off work Saturday.

        There is no petcock on this bike, some guy bypassed the broken petcock with his own tubing and a little valve :?. A new petcock is in my future though!

          It's not bad, just look from up above before you put the tank back on. You should be able to see it, a little nozzle on a little piece that connects the middle carbs together. Once you find it, if you're having a tough time getting it on, remove the fuel line from the petcock, put it on the carbs, get the tank into place, and then reconnect to the petcock =]

            Hi Mr. freki,

            I realize this news is late but for future reference, I try to remember to take the hose loose from the petcock before removing the tank. This is because it's much easier to put the hose back on the petcock than it is to put it back on the fitting between the #2 and #3 carbs. It's tough to get my big paws in there.

              Hello there freki. I see that you've been given some good advice, despite the header of your posted message. For future reference, an example of how to post a header to a request-for-help might be:

              I can't speak for others but usually disregard reading messages that are either far removed from my information and experience OR don't give any clue as to the question or concern. Just a little constructive criticism offered.

                That's a good idea actually. There is a lot of traffic on these forums, and it's sometimes hard to know which threads to skip. I have the same problem with email at work. I believe a descriptive subject line draws more answers to the questions in the message, and makes them easier to find for later reference.
