    1980 SUSUKI GS550e

    bike needs a compression test what should each cylinder be ? been told 150 psi is this correct ? my bike is a susuki gs550e

    my understanding is anything above 110 is still "in spec", but higher is better. more important is how even they are one to the other. but i am definitely not an expert.

      If memory serves correctly std spec is 110 to 180, warm motor, WOT. And 25psi between cylinders. I've never got too hung up on compression testing as you can get inconsistent results, even with a good tester. It's use is really as a diagnostic tool that sets you off looking at valve clearances / gasket seals / rings / bores etc.

        Don't have a manual in front of me but the spec is 28 psi difference between cylinders, and a lower spec. range of 128 psi. (with the service limit likely lower).
