    2 dead spark plugs

    Hi.

    Thought I'd post this. Took my bike for a ride Tuesday and it ran bad. Right exhaust pipe was backfiring at idle. Pipes 1 & 2 off of the engine were at about 130 degrees but the other 2 pipes were around 80 degrees. When I got back home, I did a compression check. All within a few pounds of 120. I figured that was OK. I checked spark with a spark checker and all 4 were jumping the gap. So I started to individually stick a plug in the #4 wire. Found 2 of the four wouldn't spark, at all. They weren't fouled either. I don't think I have ever run into multiple bad plugs. Anyway, bought 4 new plugs. Installed this afternoon! Yeee Haaaa! Runs like a champ!

    lucky you didnt give yourself a headache by trying FIRST to figure out whats "wrong" with the wires coils ignitor....

        I have 2V 750 couldn't get it to run until I put new plugs in it

          Yup, once in a while you get a bad one out of the box. I haven't got a bad NGK plug but Champions have had me chasing my tail before. There was also the company called Valley Ignition years ago, really cheap plugs but I bought a pack of 8 and three were dead! That one holds the record for me.

            I've experience dead NGK's @ seemingly about one-in-a-dozen...when they work, they work very well for me. Plus, I get 'em thru my marine supplier for cost.

              I seem to recall an article about counterfeit NGK plugs being on the market. They looked very much the same, but there was some small subtle indications that I cannot recall. Just was wondering what happened to all of them and are they still getting into the market?
