Float Repair?

Okay, so I'm doing a complete cleaning of my carbs, and discovered a small gouge (3/16") right underneath the pin bracket on the backside flat surface. It doesn't look like it was inflicted - more like a material defect. I don't believe it's all the way through, it doesn't look like it is under a bright light and magnifying glass. Also, there was no gas sloshing around inside the float.

But, obviously I would like to repair it. Do any of you good folks have any suggestions as to repair material? JB Weld can stand up to gas, but tends to separate from the bonding surface when exposed to gas. I fixed a broken post by drilling tiny hole below and over the fracture, applied JB Weld on fractured surface, and used thin stainless steel wire threaded through holes and twisted tight to tie the two parts together. Applied JB Weld over fracture on outside of post. I said all this to point out that the post has held up great, but I can see a separation of the JB Weld from the post surface.

So, is there another material that can be used to seal a small gouge on the float that doesn't have to stand up to stress, but will seal a hole in a gas environment?

If it doesn't have a hole in it, it never will. I'd leave it alone and not mess with it. It will never be under any stress and, unless you damage it further, will look exactly the same when you rebuild your carbs 3 or 4 years from now.

The repair tool for this defect is a brightly colored rectangular plastic card with rounded corners found in many wallets and purses.

Properly applied, the numbers thereon have a near-magical ability to summon new parts to your very door.
